Wokay.
It has been 2 weeks since the Dukan Diet.
My Attack phase was for 3 days. It was not too bad for me but I was tired, thirsty and hungry. Oddly, I didn't have much cravings. Iman tergugat sikit when my friends ordered ayam goreng but resisted. Takes A LOT OF WILLPOWER to reject the oily food and yummy carbs.
For 3 days, my breakfast consisted of Oat Bran with milk or yoghurt. Usually yoghurt because I'm always in a rush in the mornings.
For lunch it was either baked/grilled chicken, seafood or salmon. Sampai naik muak! I gradually moved on to the Cruise stage. I STRUGGLED in this stage! The cravings all came back with a vengeance! I wanted carbs soooo much and the temptation to stuff my face with Nasi Briyani at my colleague's open house DID not help! I caved in on my 7th day. Just ate a teeny weeny portion of rice and felt bloated. By the 10th day, dah start malas. I decided to stop the Dukan, whack whatever and I want and then start again...this time I am not gonna distracted and be really strict.
Did I lose any weight? YES. I am currently at 57.5kg. WOOHOO. Touched 5 already liao, no more 6. But I think my 2 days worth of carbs and bubble tea enjoyment will affect my weight. It's ok, I'll start back everything!
Maybe the reason why I feel that Cruise phase is difficult is because the weight loss is not as rapid as the Attack phase so I guess I felt demoralise. Imagine lah, whole day makan vegetables and protein (which by the time dah jelak gila) and then it's either you gain a bit of weight or just lose a little. So it turns out that vegetables retain water, so that's why ada a bit of weight gain.
Experienced a couple of things during Dukan
1) Constipation. PUNYALAH SAKIT NAK MEMBEROT. So that's why drink plenty of water and eat oat bran, it helps!
2) Tired
3) Thirsty
4) Bad Breath. Sorry eh, I seal mulot bau tayar with mints hahahahaha
What are the difficulties during Dukan?
1) EATING OUT.
My boss jio-ed everyone for Swensens on my 2nd day of Attack. IT WAS SUPER HARD. I can't eat Salad, I can't eat lamb chops, I can't eat Rib eye. Finally settled for Grilled Fish. Quite miserable though. Did not touch the fries at all and was super proud of myself! Sometimes susah nak find "Dukan friendly food" also. I had Tom Yam, fish ball soup, meat balls, yong tau foo...anything but carbo!
2) CRAVINGS
The cravings can be bad! I caved in to bubble tea but had less sugar and no pearls! For my ice cream fix, I had froyo instead.
3) HUNGER
I was always hungry! Read it's ok to eat alot but they must be protein! For dessert, I had tau huey! Never ate so much Tau Huey before. It's like you're full..but you're not FULL FULL. If ya know what I mean.
And please plan your menu! I think its really important cos you wont be distracted. I failed to plan for a few days and that's why I caved in to unhealthy carbs. Sheesh.
It also helps to have friends that motivate you. I started following a couple of Dukan-ers on Instagram and shamelessly curi their food ideas lah. Hehe. Now I'm raring to go! COME ON! 3 KG TO GO!!!
